A few years ago, a traditional company was producing gears in this building. Today, the building is serving people in need of assistance instead of machinery. The v. Bodelschwingh Foundations Bethel opened “Am Doventor Nursing Home” in Bremen—a new address for elderly persons and individuals in need of nursing care.
The center for senior citizens offers elderly people the opportunity to design their new home comfortably and according to individual tastes. Six generously appointed kitchens invite residents to spend time with one another. Comfortable seating areas have been installed on each floor and in the hallways where persons can meet others, talk or simply catch up on life a little. The building has a total of 89 single rooms and six double rooms, divided into home communities.
The nursing home in Bremen also has a department that is geared to the specific needs of people with dementia. The world appears strange to people who have lost their memory and no longer recognize family and friends. Fear and disorientation rob them of the joy of life. Am Doventor Nursing Home provides sheltered areas that convey a sense of safety and security to such persons. Three safe and especially designed roof terraces have been built to satisfy residents’ needs to move about.
