Aims and Legal Form
The v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel is an affiliation of four foundations — the Bethel Foundation (Stiftung Bethel), the Nazareth Foundation (Stiftung Nazareth), the Sarepta Foundation (Stiftung Sarepta) and the Hoffnungstal Foundation Lobetal. The aims of the four foundations are set out in the foundation’s charters. The v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel is formally accredited as an institution serving non-profit, charitable and religious purposes. It is a church foundation under private law and falls under the supervisory authority for foundations in the Evangelical Church in Westphalia.
The central focus of Bethel’s almost 150-year history has been to provide humanitarian and professional aid to ill, disabled and socially disadvantaged persons.
