Persons with Acquired Brain Damage
One brief moment, and nothing is like it was before... It happens every day. People are suddenly torn from their usual lives because their brain sustains an injury in a traffic, work or sport accident. A heart attack, stroke or cerebral hemorrhage can also cause damage to the brain. An entire world usually collapses for the affected persons and their families.
They very rarely find appropriate help. Young people are forced to live in nursing homes for senior citizens. Others find a place in institutions for people with disabilities that are not adapted to their special needs.
The v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel has developed innovative assistance concepts for helping people with acquired brain damage. Institutions have been set up in several cities where affected persons are given individual assistance to allow them to lead as independent a life as they can. Everything possible is done to open up new living perspectives for them via good nursing care, special training and targeted support.
Bethel is represented by a range of services for Persons with Acquired Brain Damage (PABD), in Bielefeld, Düsseldorf and Berlin.
